Metroid: Samus Returns Gets A Cool-Looking New Nintendo 3DS XL

There's A Samus Edition Metroid NEW 3DS XL On The Way

As you can see in the images below, the case sports an orange and yellow color scheme with a picture of a fully-armored Samus on the front. Samus Returns will be a "reimagining" of Metroid II: Return of Samus with completely new visuals and music, while iterating on the classic Metroid gameplay and feel for a new audience on 3DS.

Nintendo of America released a new gameplay video featuring almost 20 minutes of Metroid: Samus Returns in action from the Nintendo Minute team (along with a special guest from the Treehouse). Other than the new paint job, this New 3DS XL is built to the same standards as the base model.

Then on Thursday 24 August at 12:00 midday CEST, Metroid: Samus Returns enters the limelight, with producer Yoshio Sakamoto and José Luis Márquez, creative director of developer Mercury Steam, taking to the stage to discuss Samus Aran's upcoming adventure on Nintendo 3DS.

Samus Returns isn't the only Metroid title on the way right now - at E3 this year, Nintendo revealed that Metroid Prime 4 is in development for the Switch. No word on whether we will see this in Europe.

Plus news on difficulty modes for the game. Scan Pulse, for example, shows players where to go next on the map, avoiding the traditional Metroid task of reexaming your route when you hit a dead end.
