Bill Cosby has decided on a new lawyer to join his defense team for his sexual assault case.
The new team includes Tom Mesereau, Sam Silver and Kathleen Bliss. The LA-based Agrusa, who filed her motion to withdraw last week, will continue to serve as Cosby's leading civil attorney as The Cosby Show co-creator faces various cases across the country.
"The announcement of a new legal team ... was made on the comedian's Twitter account Monday, a day before a scheduled hearing in his case", said NBC News.
He will now spearhead Cosby's fight against sex assault charges after the comedian's first trial in Norristown, Pa., ended with a hung jury in June.
All eyes will be on Mesereau, best known for winning acquittal for Jackson in 2005 at his six-month trial in California on more than a dozen child molestation charges.
Missing journalist Kim Wall 'died in an accident,' submarine owner says
Madsen was arrested Friday hours after his 40-ton, almost 18-meter-long (60-foot-long) submarine sank off Denmark's eastern coast. Danish police said the search for her body by helicopters, ships and divers during the weekend would continue on Monday.
Judge Steven O'Neill declared a mistrial in June when a jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict on three counts of aggravated indecent assault after more than 50 hours of deliberations in Norristown, Pennsylvania.
Cosby is due to be retried beginning November 6 on charges of sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a former administrator at his alma mater Temple University, at his Philadelphia-area home in 2004.
The deadlock was a victory of sorts for Cosby, now frail and isolated, who risked spending the rest of his life in prison if convicted. Silver has been a part of Cosby's legal team since past year, and his primary focus has been civil cases involving the allegations of the more than 50 women who have accused Cosby of drugging and assaulting them.
Cosby has admitted having sexual contact with Constand but claimed the contact was consensual.
We got Mesereau out last month, and he called the retrial a very big waste of time.
