On the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, UP Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) sleuths in a joint operation with Maharashtra ATS arrested a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiyyaba militant wanted in connection to espionage and unlawful activities from Mumbai worldwide airport.
Salim Khan, who was deported firom UAE, is believed to be the mastermind behind a terror attack on a CRPF camp in UP in 2008, which claimed 8 lives. He was arrested from the global airport on the intervening night of July 16 and 17, he said. Khan is now being interrogated and will soon be handed over to the U.P. ATS for further interrrogation.
According to reports, Saleem Khan hails from Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh and was arrested in a joint operation carried out the UP ATS and Maharashtra ATS. "A lookout notice was also issued against him subsequently, which was also active at the time of his arrest", stated a release by the UP ATS.

The Maharashtra ATS said that as part of its monitoring of suspicious persons arriving from certain specific foreign destinations, they zeroed in on Salim Mohammed Khan on Monday.
Arun said, Kausar Farooqui and Mohammad Sharif, the two terrorists held in connection with Rampur CRPF camp attack, were trained along with Salim Khan at Muzaffarabad terror camp in Pakistan occupied Kashmir in 2007. The cops suspect Khan played a role in more terror attacks in the country. Aftab was also keeping a movement of troops in Uttar Pradesh. Aftab, who was arrested from Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh recently, had named Khan as a culprit.
Two senior officials of the Uttar Pradesh ATS, who are part of the six-member team that laid its hands on Khan, are bringing him to New Delhi, where the IG of the ATS Aseem Arun and other investigative agencies are likely to question him "on various leads".
