Gingrich: 'No Idea' What Trump Meant By Tweet Appearing To Confirm Probe

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), a staunch supporter of President Trump, said Friday that a "president can not obstruct justice".

He said Trump was "infuriated" by "this Russia baloney", apparently referring to the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. When Mueller was first hired by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in mid-May, after the initial firestorm surrounding Trump's abrupt firing of Comey, Gingrich expressed support, tweeting that Mueller's "reputation is impeccable for honesty and integrity". Comey has said three times I didn't do anything with the Russians. "They're out looking for a couple scalps, and they're not going to go home until they get some".

Gingrich has been on the front lines the past week defending the president in the wake of the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russian election meddling.

"'By the way, I know you said I needed to spend eighty million but I've only spent thirty million".

When ABC News reporter Martha Raddatz asked Gingrich if he believed Rosenstein should join Attorney General Jeff Sessions in recusing himself from the Russian Federation probe, Gingrich said, "No".

"Frankly, I think the President should stop talking about it", Blunt said. And I think the answer is they want to lay the foundation to discredit whatever Bob Mueller comes up with.

"How dare you smear a man who served this country honorably for decades in both war and peace, winning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart", Scarborough wrote. "As a historian, I just don't believe it".

Turns out, even Dianne Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Intelligence Committee says there is zero evidence of collusion.

"Trump has a compulsion to counterattack and is very pugnacious".

Trump has also voiced his frustration regarding the Mueller probe, repeatedly calling it a "witch hunt" in a series of tweets last week.

Gingrich admitted that Trump reportedly told him he managed to spend much less. "And notice how it's evolving?"

"They're going to get somebody".

Gingrich also said the president of the United States technically "cannot obstruct justice".

"Let me be clear: the president is not under investigation", Sekulow said.

Like Trump, Clinton was investigated by an independent counsel, Kenneth Starr. "The president is not a subject or target of an investigation".

That came a little over a month after he tweeted, "Robert Mueller is superb choice to be special counsel. We've had no indication of that", Sekulow added.
